Ethical Stuff

Love chocolate but not so keen on corporate malpractice, ultra-processed food, child slavery and environmental degradation? Yeah, us too.

That's why we have built NeverLost on some solid ethical foundations. We're not 100% perfect, but we are trying hard to get there.

Here's what's up:

The Chocolate

The chocolate we use is at the core of our ethical standards, which is why we use ICAM*. They’re an Italian chocolate producer who work closely with farmers and cooperatives at source to ensure the workers are treated fairly and paid appropriately.

Note that our chocolate supplier is subject to change depending on availability and whatnot, but we will do our best to update and inform if this happens.

(*Launch batch is actually Veliche Intense 35 and Essential 54 - unfortunately they don't meet our ethical standards so after launch will be used no longer).

Proper Ingredients

One of the main reasons we created NeverLost is because experience chocolate bars (eg, the ones with fun fillings, not the slabs with bits of nut in) tend to be full of weird stuff. That’s why all our caramels, pralines, fruit fillings and other insertions are 100% real food.

We’re aiming for zero-UPF (ultra processed food) ingredients - at the moment our chocolate does have soya lecithin, but we’re working to replace this too.

Paper-Free Packaging

Plastic packaging is so 2009, right? So we’re trying our best to make sure you don’t need to worry about what to do with your NeverLost wrapper or delivery package. Everything is recyclable!

Our sleeves are made from glassine paper, labels are 100% paper with eco-friendly inks, our mailing boxes are cardboard and all the packaging is also paper.

If it ain’t recyclable it ain’t going in…

Digital Ethics

So, this is an interesting one… The world of digital technology, social media and AI is basically part of our lives now, right - including us here at NeverLost.

But it’s our firm belief that we need to be super careful how we handle it and what we use when it comes to digital tech.

With data, yes, we use your email and mailing information to contact you about your order and we do also keep your info to let you know about special offers and so on. You can opt out at any time with one click.

For social media - we think there are some very shady practices out there and we don’t want to support them in the long term. Unfortunately there are some platforms we need to use (at least to start) but we are planning on rapidly phasing them out.

Feel free to like and follow and all that, but expect our Instagram to go quiet very soon. Facebook can do one. Twitter is a hard no.

With AI - we have used AI to plan the whole business, but we don’t use it for things like marketing or packaging design etc. We also try to use non-US based AI such as Mistral/Vibe and Deepseek.

Summing Up…

That covers pretty much everything. We’re doing our best to get to the super lofty ethical standards we want to reach, but the journey is just beginning. And with any emerging business there will be changes, optimisations and possibly a few steps back before we can go forward.

We hope you’re going to join and support us on the journey to become truly NeverLost.
